Developing a Lifestyle of Meditation

It’s no secret the power of meditation in our lives.  God clearly states that when you meditate on His Word, you will “prosper and succeed in all that you do” (Joshua 1:8).  We know this, but putting it into practice is harder.  How do we make meditation a lifestyle?

A few years ago, I read the book “Emotionally Healthy Leadership” by Peter Scazzero (Which I highly recommend!).  There was a graph in it which rocked my world (see below).  It brought into clarity how we so often value many things that never become part of our lifestyle.  We become consumed with knowledge that “tickles the ears” but does nothing to transform our lives.  I believe this is one of the enemy’s greatest distraction techniques to keep us from the best God has for us.

Not “Magic”

I so want the transformation of spirit, soul and body that is promised in God’s Word.  But I must both desire it and choose to own it by giving time and space for the grace of God to work it out in my life.  God works in and through partnership with us, not as a magician to magically do something.   If I am waiting for an “instant fix” it is not likely to happen. God is all about working in process with us through relationship.

Make it a Lifestyle

If I only value meditation, but don’t put it into practice or “own” it, it will never have the power in my life that God intended.  I want to make it a consistent part of my life, not just in a morning or evening session.  This means incorporating it into the spare moments of my day: driving, walking, waiting for someone or something, my mind is centered on God, listening and interacting with Him.

My prayer for you is that Meditate on Me is a springboard to a lifestyle of meditation.  Click here to get started!

Letting Scripture Come to Life

Do you sometimes get stuck in the details of Scripture?  Struggle with all the details that seem purposeless?  Do you desire more from the Bible?  Learn how to let Scripture come to life!

A couple of years ago, while reading through Exodus, I was getting bogged down in chapter 29.  Getting a little tired of all the dimensions for the sanctuary and the garments of the priest, I asked God to show me something fresh.  He immediately highlighted the consecration of the priests and the blood being put on their right ear, right thumb and right toe.

God began to speak about how He wants to consecrate our ears to hear clearly His voice and that His blood can cover our hearing so we don’t get mixed messages from the enemy.

“What about the right thumb?” I asked.  A picture of a fingerprint came to mind – how we determine identity!  His blood transforms our natural identity to Sons and Daughters of God!  Wow!  It’s all about the blood of Jesus!

As I continued to seek the Lord, He showed me that consecrating our “toe” represented walking out His will in every area of our lives.  Going where He calls us to go.  Doing what He reveals for us to do.

Go Beyond

I love how He can take seemingly mundane historical facts and breathe the freshness of His Spirit on His Word to reveal deep things to us!  Don’t settle for a casual reading of Scripture when you can have so much more.  God’s desire is for you to see, hear, feel and walk out His Word in new ways that bring life and energy.

“Apply” the blood to your “ear”, “thumb” and “toe” today!  Hear more clearly! Be established in Your true identity!  Go where He leads!

As you meditate on God’s Word, let the His Spirit breathe fresh life into you!

The Best Christmas Present: Peace and a Sound Mind

Searching for the Best Christmas Present?

Are you scrambling for that last gift or two for a loved one?  Overwhelmed with events?  Stressed over upcoming family gatherings?  The best Christmas present you can give yourself and others is a sound mind and peace that only comes from Jesus.

In a season of hustle and bustle in preparing for Christmas with all its shopping and parties, the most important focus can get buried.  Jesus is the reason for the season – His birth, death and resurrection which makes it possible for us to live an abundant life in Him.  It can be easy to miss the most important elements while swamped with the things we think have to be done.

Strategies for a Peace-filled Christmas

While you can’t control others, you are in charge of you.  This means that you don’t have to endure a stress-filled Christmas, unless, of course, you want to!  Here’s some tips to a meaningful season.

  1. We can’t give what we don’t have. Take time to spend with God, meditating on His Word and soaking in His love.
  2. Pick and choose. You don’t have to do everything to please everyone.  Ask the Lord to show you what to say yes to and what to say no to.
  3. Live in the moment. Enjoying the present is the best “present” you can give yourself and your family.
  4. Look for creative ways to simplify and focus so that each interaction with family and friends is meaningful and mutually a blessing.
  5. Focus more on your to-be list instead of your to-do list! Be the peaceful presence God has called you to be!

As you take these steps, you will find yourself more relaxed and engaged in what the true meaning of Christmas is about.  Don’t let the enemy rip you off.  Slow down and prioritize time with Jesus so you can give the best Christmas present – the peace-filled presence of Christ living in you!

Trouble with the App?

We’ve been baffled by the reports of the app stopping prematurely and people are left hanging.  It has been checked out over and over again and we’ve done everything we know to do.  As we have been praying about it, God has been sharing the bigger picture of the struggle.  I can get focused on the technical aspects of it, and yet God was showing that there is so much more.

Meditation was God’s idea!  Throughout Scripture you read about the benefits and blessings of those who meditate on God’s Word.  It is His method to help us renew our mind and think His thoughts.  But the principles have been stolen by the enemy and used by the new age community in powerful ways.  Because God’s ways work!  But it is time for it to be redeemed for God’s people!

Is the enemy going to let go without a fight?  No!  This is more than a tech issue.  There are some practical ideas we can help you with to get it functioning on your phone, but we want to be aware of the bigger picture and to invite you to contend with us for the restoration of meditation as a gift from God to bless and empower His people.

What You Can Do

  1. Pray! Together we can fight for God’s kingdom principles to be restored.
  2. Spread the word! Let your friends know how meditation has blessed you!
  3. Let us know of technical issues when they arise.

The battle belongs to the Lord, but we also have our part!  Let’s see daily meditation restored to the church as God intended!  We are in this together!  Thank you so much for your prayers and support!

Practical Tips

If you are experiencing the app logging you off prematurely, try the website:  You can bring this up in your browser on your phone and make it an icon so that it functions the same as the app, but goes through the website which works much smoother.  Sometimes the problem is a cache problem and clearing your cache will clear it up.

Sounds that Heal

The response to adding the music to the meditations is fantastic!  But we wanted you to know that it is more than just a pleasant sound in the background.  Understanding musical frequencies might be new to you, but these are specifically tuned to what is known as the “Key of David.”  It is believed this is the same frequency that David used when he played his harp for Saul that calmed him (1 Samuel 16:23).  It is known for its healing properties for both soul and body.  There’s science as well as powerful testimonies from other Christians about this type of music that you can read more about at

Healing Frequencies

Because we can’t see frequencies, it seems like a foreign language to us.  However, everyday things like microwaves, radio, lasers, music and even the human voice operate in them.  Some frequencies can be harmful and some heal.  Tuning music to the right frequency has the God-given power to impact us emotionally, physically and spiritually!  That is why we’ve delayed adding the music until we knew we had something that would be more than just a pretty sound.

Our God is so amazing to have created light and sound with frequencies that heal and bless.  Our enemy tries to use these same things to harm and destroy.  Understanding who our God is and utilizing what He put in the world around us for our blessing is important.  The enemy can only counterfeit.

Full Benefit

We want you to experience the fullness that God has for you through these meditations.  As you engage with God, the music, tuned to the right frequency, provides an additional benefit in soothing stress, bringing healing to our emotions and connecting us in deeper ways with God.

(If you still want a meditation with silent pauses, choose the 8 minute option.  The 10 and 14 minutes meditations both have music.)

Two Trees in the Garden…

God’s intention for Adam and Eve was that they would learn everything they needed in the context of relationship with Him and with each other.  Unfortunately, they chose to get knowledge in their way and their timing.

Today, we too, can either partake of the Tree of Life or the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.  God’s plan is through intimacy with Him and in relationship with others, we learn and grow.  Too often, we want the fast, easy way of doing it ourselves.  I know that I’ve often partaken of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in an effort to learn – latest conferences, books, etc., cramming as much knowledge as I could get.  Unfortunately, it didn’t lead to any lasting fruit in my life.  I got a lot of head knowledge, but that is where it stopped.  This isn’t to say that books and conferences are bad, simply that when we are pursuing knowledge instead of God (not always easy to tell the difference), we choose the wrong tree.

Meditation: Partaking from the Tree of Life

Meditation is a beautiful process of learning with God, hearing His voice and pondering His Word.  It isn’t about checking off a to-do list or cramming information in.  Meditation is taking the time to really get to know God.  It isn’t an “instant fix.”  But if you are willing to put the effort in to doing it regularly, you will see amazing results!  Day by day you are being transformed into God’s image as you ponder, reflect upon and digest His Word.  It will become a part of you, not just some knowledge you have in your head.

How about you?  Take an honest inventory with God about the two trees.  Are you pursuing knowledge or God?  Are you willing to take the time to deepen your relationship with God through things such as meditation?  Let’s pursue Him together!

Rest or Stress – You Choose!

In a conversation with a friend this morning, she mentioned how rest and stress have the same letters, just in different order and with a few letters dropped.  This intrigued me.  We all long for rest, yet the reality much of the time is stress in the fast-paced lives we lead.

Are you feeling stressed today?  The decision we each have is how we are going to respond.  Stress will happen in our lives.  It is inevitable.  But we have a choice.  We can surrender the situations to the Lord and let Him re-arrange things and let a few things go, just like the letters in rest and stress, in a way that leads us in rest.

How does this work?  We usually think logically about our schedules or lives.  Sometimes it seems impossible to rest. However, when we let go and let God rearrange our schedule or circumstances, it is amazing what happens!  There have been times when I think the things I need to do are not humanly possible, but when I surrender to Him and choose peace, it is incredible how everything gets done or things get rearranged in such a way that it all works out.

What about dropping a few “letters”?  Did you notice to change stress to rest, you have to drop two “s’s”.  Think about some things God is asking you to “drop.”  I can think of several that start with “s” – striving, selfishness, sin, etc.

Take Action!

Why not take a few minutes right now and ask God what He wants you to let go of so that you can rest instead of being stressed.

If you haven’t tried it already, we have a whole series on stress relief at Meditate on Me.  Is your life as fast-paced as mine?  Then you need to take a few minutes and let God rearrange and drop some things from your life.  Experience the profound rest He longs to give you!

Do You Remember Your First Love?

Do you remember your first “crush”?  How you thought you’d go crazy if you couldn’t see him or her?  All you could think about was being with them?  Just one look at them and you’d feel a rush of emotion.  However, we’ve also probably all felt the sting of region from a first love.

When we get wounded in our “first love” experiences in the natural (teased or embarrassed or rejected), we begin to build walls of self-protection so we won’t get hurt again.  However, those very walls keep out the powerful emotions of first love that Jesus wants us to have with Him!

Doing the Right Things, but Missing the Point

Jesus loved the church at Ephesus.  They were hard workers, doing great things.  But one thing was missing – first love (Revelation 2:4).  They’d lost their passion for Jesus.

It can be easy to lose our “first love” with Jesus, just like the Ephesian church!  This was the church that Paul prayed would “…be empowered to discover…the great magnitude of the astonishing love of Christ in all its dimensions.  How deeply intimate and far-reaching is His love!  How enduring and inclusive it is.  Endless love beyond measurement that transcends our understanding—this extravagant love pours into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God!”  (Ephesians 3:17-19, Passion Translation).

Changing the Heart

It is easy to know this in our head, but another matter for it to touch the depths of our heart.  God wants us to experience His extravagant, intimate love, not as a mental concept, but as a heart-felt, head-over-heels love encounter that changes us!

In the midst of our busy lives, it can be easy to forget our first love.  We might rush through our devotional time, saying a quick prayer and reading a Scripture.  However, God wants so much more.  Not because He wants to add pressure to our schedule, but because He so longs for intimate time with you.  Meditate on Me is God’s invitation to you to come aside and have some face to face time with Him.

If you feel you’ve lost that first love passion for Jesus, take some time right now to reconnect! Start meditating now by clicking here!

Take a Breath…

Did you see the movie “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation?”  In it, Ethan must dive deep underwater and hold his breath for an extended amount of time in order to save hundreds of lives.  They carefully calculate how much time he has to accomplish his mission, but then something goes wrong!

I watched as he slowly began to run out of breath.  Oh, how I wanted him to get some air as I saw him struggle.  I squirmed in my seat, fighting to help him get some oxygen.  As human beings, we instinctively know we have to have air to live.  It’s difficult to watch someone not able to breathe.

No one has to tell you to take your next breath.  It’s so automatic you rarely think about it unless something prevents you from getting it.  Yet it is one of the most vital functions of your body.  You can’t last very long without oxygen.  Every organ of your body is hungry for it.

We’ve gotten to where we breathe very shallowly, therefore depriving our bodies of much needed oxygen.  But we are used to it, and hardly notice.

There are many benefits to deep breathing, including losing weight!  That’s good news!

Deep breathing:

  1. Releases stress and tension in the body by relaxing constricted muscles.
  2. Brings mental clarity by relaxing the mind and body by reducing anxiety levels
  3. Reduces or relieves pain – that’s why it’s a big component of Lamaze!
  4. Detoxifies and releases toxins – 70% of toxins are removed by breathing! If you aren’t breathing deeply, toxins aren’t eliminated effectively.
  5. Strengthens your immune system, heart and lungs
  6. Increases energy levels and stamina as it distributes oxygen rich blood throughout your body.
  7. Helps in weight loss – extra oxygen burns up excess fat faster!
  8. Elevates mood – increases “feel good” hormones
  9. Aids in cell regeneration

So, take a deep breath!

Spending 8-10 minutes each day, breathing deeply, while you meditate, will begin to improve oxygen levels and build better breathing habits.  I know that when I am regularly meditating I feel better, inside and out!

In addition, adding the breath prayers, draws us closer into communion with God.  It’s a win-win!  If you haven’t already, take a few moments to breathe with Jesus!  Your body will thank you!  Go to:
